360° Panoramic Photos

Below is how to edit a photo to one with a spherical view covering all angles possible in Adobe Photoshop CC 2018. Examples of wide-angle panoramic photos include scrollable photos on a social media post or photos, which let you see distinct perspectives using a VR headset.

The software lets you open 360-degree photos and edit. The process differs to editing standard images in older versions of Photoshop. Further, skip saving the actual file while editing for 360-degree photos in the new version. Instead, save the progress file in PSD format until you arrive at the export step.

Photo Upload and Editing Entire Image

Editing the entire photo cannot be done once the photo is converted into a scrollable 360-degree file in the subsequent steps. Hence, you should make the edits at the start. For that, open the photo in Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 and choose options from Image > Adjustments. The options in the menu comprise of saturation, exposure, and monochromatic conversion for black and white edits. In the Filters menu, you can access options like Unsharp Mask or the option to turn the image into an oil canvas painting.

For turning the image into a 360-degree layer, select the actual photo from the layers panel and navigate to 3D > Special Panorama > New Panorama. Once you choose the option, you will get a dialog box including the option to tweak the window size wherein you will scroll the photo alongside other options like crop. Navigate to 3D > Spherical Panorama > Import and you are good to start. There are certain tools inside the 3D Workspace as well that can especially help in three-dimensional edits.

Edit the Perspective and Export

Outside the left pane of the present view of the photo you are working in, you can choose pan, dolly, and orbit controls, which will let you move around the photo and choose a perspective you may need to apply. Else, you can use the hand tool for changing the photo’s perspective by clicking and dragging. Once you are done with all edits, delay saving and instead navigate to 3D > Spherical Panorama > Export Panorama. For finishing the edits subsequently, save the photo in PSD format, and select the option after you are done with professional picture editing.
